Established in 1906, Phillips Temple Christian Methodist Episcopal Church has been a cornerstone of spiritual growth and community service in Indianapolis for over a century. With 117 years of rich history, our church continues to be a beacon of hope and fellowship, deeply rooted in the heart of our city.

Things to Know as a New Member...

When Should I Arrive?

Join us at 210 East 34th Street for our in-person worship services. Sunday School begins promptly at 9:00 AM, followed by our Worship Service at 10:00 AM. If you’re unable to attend in person, you can still join us virtually via our YouTube and Facebook platforms.

What Should I Wear?

At Phillips Temple, come as you are. Whether it’s jeans and sneakers or suits and dresses, what you wear doesn’t matter. Our congregation is diverse in its style, and we encourage you to dress in whatever makes you feel comfortable and ready to worship.

How Long is the Service?

Our services typically last about 75 minutes and include a mix of praise and worship, prayer, and a powerful message delivered by our Pastor, Peris J. Lester. We invite you to engage and participate with our choir during the music portions of the service.

At Phillips Temple, we believe in empowering our young ones through faith, fun, and fellowship. Our Children’s Ministry is meticulously crafted to cater to children from toddlers to teenagers, providing a safe and engaging environment where each age group can learn, play, and grow in their spiritual journey. Every Sunday morning at Phillips Temple, children embark on an enriching journey through the Bible, designed specifically for young minds. Our Sunday School program engages children with captivating stories and interactive lessons that foster their understanding of biblical teachings and help them apply these lessons to their everyday lives. It’s a time of learning, growth, and fun, all rolled into one!

Join us for a week-long summer adventure with our Vacation Bible School! This exciting program is packed with creative activities, engaging Bible stories, and fun games that bring the message of God’s love to life. It’s a perfect blend of spiritual education and summer fun, designed to make lasting memories and instill a deep-rooted love for faith among our young participants.

Our Youth Group Activities offer a monthly opportunity for young members of our community to build lasting friendships and strengthen their community spirit. Through a variety of events, from service projects to social outings and group discussions, our youth are encouraged to explore their faith, share experiences, and grow together in a supportive and uplifting environment.
